It’s time for Coraline to visit the other mother and find out if buttons are the coolest thing ever. In this Coraline Halloween Makeup Tutorial you will learn how to create a dragonfly hair pin, super cool buttons and a needle using our Ellimorph Plastic. This makeup is easy to recreate and very well suitable for beginners.
As with most other cartoon characters it’s all up to you to interpret and convert the look into real life. Though Coraline appears in many looks and outfits in the movie, and never ends up getting the buttons attached to her eyes we still wanted to create our Coraline version with the scary button.
Along with the blue wig, the buttons are the biggest and most significant part of this Coraline makeup. We chose to create custom buttons using black Ellimorph Plastic. You can of course try to find real buttons to use instead, but the trick with using Ellimorph is that it allowed us to create large enough holes to attach both thread and be able to see out at the same time. So even though it looks like you’re blind in this look, you can actually see out through the over-sized holes in the buttons.
The dragonfly hairpin is also made of Ellimorph and incorporates a bobby pin. It’s a straight forward and simple design that shouldn’t requite too much skills to pull off.
If you are planning on going to a costume party with a friend we recommend you check out our Other Mother tutorial as well. Then you can both be characters from the Coraline movie!
