The Silence SFX makeup tutorial (Dr. Who)

Silence shall fall when the question is asked

In this episode we take on a character that you helped us choose. Namely The Silence. As one of the creepier monsters in the popular television series Dr. Who, The Silence turns out to be a religious society rather than just a species. Our approach to the look is a classic latex paste and flour solution for the sculpting of the face. For the hands however it’s a different story as we decided to use disposable gloves as a base, making it possible to actually re-use the hands whenever you need to dress up as the Silence.

On top of e the gloves we build layers of aluminium foil and tissue paper, along with liquid latex. When it has set and dried we simply paint and shade the hands and they are good to go.

As for the head we are using a bald cap along with the diy monster prosthetic and match up the colours when the mask is in place. Make sure you cut holsed for breathing before you apply the mask.

    I am so happy that they did this, but they are not called the silence, as they say, "silence will fall", and "silence will fall when the question is asked", if u think they are called the silence they are saying they would fall I don't think they would want to fall, the silence isn't a species it is an religious order or movement, to the creatures the silence is another name for the doctor so really they are saying the doctor will fall when the question is asked. The Silence was a religious order created by Tasha Lem. It was an offshoot of the Church forces of the Papal Mainframe. They tried to kill the Doctor to prevent the fruition of a specific prophecy, which stated: "On the fields of Trenzalore, at the fall of the eleventh, when no living creature can speak falsely or fail to answer, a Question will be asked, a question that must never, ever be answered." This question was "the First Question, the oldest question in the universe, that must never be answered, hidden in plain sight." Dorium Maldovar told the Eleventh Doctor that the question was: "Doctor Who?", which was a question the Doctor had been apparently running from his entire life. This question was later revealed to be a code word intended to allow the Time Lords to know that it was safe to return to the universe from the pocket realm that the Doctor had placed them in to end the Time War. The Silence feared that if the Time Lords and Gallifrey returned, the Time War would begin anew and the only way to stop this from occurring was to prevent the Doctor from giving his true name to the Time Lords through a crack in time at Trenzalore.

    its a great way to make a mask , i learned it from u guys , if i can say 2 little tips , i do the mix very well so it comes softer, so keep mixing and blend it ! , then after shaping it and drys out i do 2 more layers of liquid latex - with that it turns out more like a skin ! (unless u going for harder skin) keep on guys
